Crosby A-342 Forged Alloy Master Links

The Crosby A-342 Master Links are built for critical lifting applications where performance, traceability, and fatigue life matter. A major advantage of the A-342 series is that these links are forged (not welded like many common master links), delivering superior grain flow, strength consistency, and long-term durability.

Manufactured from quenched & tempered alloy steel, each link is individually proof tested with certification and uses fixtures sized to prevent localized point loading. Forgings include a Product Identification Code (PIC) for material traceability, plus raised markings for size, Crosby, and USA. Selected sizes designated with “W” have enlarged inside dimensions to provide additional room for sling hardware and crane hooks.

Product Notes:
5:1 Design Factor. Based on single leg sling (in-line load), or resultant load on multiple legs with an included angle less than or equal to 120 degrees. Applications with wire rope and synthetic sling generally require a design factor of 5. Proof Test Load equals or exceeds the requirement of ASTM A952(8.1) and ASME B30.9.

Offshore Container Master Links (Stock Nos. 3522213 – 3522218) are proof tested to 2.5 times the Working Load Limit with 70 percent fixtures. Chain slings require that the Minimum Ultimate Load be 4 times the Working Load Limit. Refer to Applications & Warnings to determine the product’s actual Ultimate Load. Proof Test Load equals or exceeds the requirements of ASTM A952(8.1) and ASME B30.9-1.4 for the applicable chain size and number of legs.
